Former Kenyan presidents Daniel Arap Moi and Mwai Kibaki still earn millions from the government when in retirement. A total of sh149.72 million will be paid to both of them. Mwai Kibaki will be paid sh82.86 million in benefits for the year 2014-2015 while Moi will be paid sh66.85 million.
Here is the breakdown:
Moi will receive sh15.21 million while Kibaki sh11.02 million
ii) Insurance cover
Mwai Kibaki will get insurance cover of sh13.10 million while Moi isn’t getting any of this
iii) Foreign Travel
Each of them will get sh8.1 million for traveling to foreign countries
iv) Maintenance of vehicles
Each of them will get sh2.6 million to cater for the maintenance of their official vehicles
Mwai Kibaki also awarded himself sh25 million in pension and retirement benefits before the end of his term.
