Multichoice, owner of DStv, has decided to launch a pay per view service which will let the subscribers to rent movies for two days at a price of sh230 using a new service called BoxOffice. This product is targeted towards customers who want to watch newly released movies from both Hollywood and Nollywood before they become available on the regular TV channels.
So what are conditions/terms needed to access the movie renting service?
You need to be a premium DStv subscriber with the Explorer decoder. The Explorer decoder costs around sh31,000 in Kenya and the dish costs sh5,000. Subscribers will be able to select and preview the movie they want to download to their decoder and it will stay in the decoder for a maximum of 48hrs then gets automatically deleted. You will not need any internet connection. Payments will be done via M-Pesa only. Customers will have 20 movies to select from at any single time.
