Nakumatt Holdings want to be all over Kenya, in each of the 47 counties, within the next 5 years. It already has 35 outlets within the country with the newest opened in Kitale last weekend. Nakumatt is actually the biggest retail chain by turnover and has presence in just 12 counties.
Outside Kenya, Nakumatt has 8 outlets in Uganda, 2 in Rwanda and just one in Tanzania. The retail outlet has already set aside sh4 billion to buy two Shoprite stores owned by South African retail giant Shoprite.
In Kitale, Nakumatt built a mall for sh140 million at the new Mega Centre Mall in the town. Other malls will be built in Machakos, Nyeri, Kajiado, Garissa, Narok, Embu and HomaBay.
