For those who existed in the 80s TreeTop juice was very popular but it disappeared in 1995. Sky Foods has now fully acquired the brand from Unilever Kenya and has set up a Ksh500 million factory to process the juice.

This investment was funded by an equity stake acquisition by the Industrial and Commercial Development Corporation (ICDC) for Ksh100m. Other shareholders contributed the remaining amount.

Annual production is expected to be 12 million litres. Five flavours are planned and they are mango, orange, apple, tropical and a mix of strawberry and banana. Once launches they will be diversifying to smoothing, a mixture of juice and milk, then maybe try bottled water.

The soft drinks market is dominated by the likes of Del Monte, Coca-Cola and Afia Juice.
