Cost Of A Business Permit In Nairobi

City hall has recently decided to review upwards the various fees for a single business permit in Nairobi by as much as 300 percent. The revenue target from business permits is around sh2 billion.

Cost breakdown:

1. Informal Traders – These are shoe shiners, newspaper vendors etc who operate within the CBD. They will pay sh10,000 per year for business permits. This is up from the initial sh2500.

2. Small Traders – These are the boutiques, chemists, shops and butcher shops with less than 4 employees. Permits costs sh7000 per year (Up from sh5000).
