Evans Kidero Unviels 14 Garbage Collection Trucks and Sets Collection Fees In Nairobi
Yesterday, Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero unveiled 14 new garbage collection trucks and one wheel loader to increase the city’s capacity to dispose solid waster and garbage. Waste collection capacity will increase from 900-1000 to 1200 – 1400 metric tonnes per day.
City Hall will also set garbage collection fee in different parts of Nairobi. Tenders will be issued to private companies to do this work. Kilimani and Kileleshwa households will pay around sh500 and sh750 per month while in Kangemi they will pay sh150. Sh300,000 will be paid annually to youth groups involved in garbage collection and the total allocation of money on garbage collection is sh25.5 million in Nairobi County.
