How Much An Emirates Pilot Makes In Salary

Emirates is a large airline based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates and is owned by the government of Dubai’s Investment Corporation Of Dubai. It is the largest airline in the Middle East and currently operates over 3,600 flights a week to more that 150 cities in 80 countries. Worldwide, it is the fourth largest airline by scheduled revenue passenger-kilometers flown and the second largest in terms of freight tonne kilometers flown.

Emirates is one of the highest paying airlines in the world for pilots. In addition to this, they enjoy zero income taxes due to them working in the United Arab Emirates. Their most popular planes are the A380 and B777. Captains of these planes are offered a monthly tax free salary of $16,013 (AED58,770). This is comprised of $11,633 (AED42,695) a month of basic salary plus the average flying pay and a monthly housing allowance of $4,380 (AED16,075). If a pilot is married, they receive a villa or townhouse and if they are single they get a 2 bedroom condo.


The average starting paying of a First Officer is a basic pay of AED24,420 ($6,900) per month plus flight pay. The average flying hours are 90 hours per month. The pay is increased by a minimum of 3% every May 1st depending on the company’s profit.

Aside from money, captains are entitled to a 42 day annual leave, global primary and secondary education allowance, life and accident insurance, medical and dental coverage and loss of license insurance. When one leaves the airline they are eligible to get an end of service gratuity or provident fund payment depending on how long one has been employed by the airline.
