In Kenya, when you apply for some jobs or some travel documents you will be asked to provide a certificate of good conduct to prove you are not a wanted criminal. This certificate is issued to Kenyans who are residing in the country, Kenyans living in foreign countries, foreign citizens who are not aliens or refugees and foreign citizens who are aliens and refugees.
REQUIREMENTS OF GETTING A CERTIFICATE OF GOOD CONDUCT.
1. Must be over 18 and have a national ID and a clear photocopy of the ID.
2. For a person below the age of 18 you must have a n original birth certificate and a clear copy of it.
3. Payment of Ksh1000 at the cashier at the CID offices.
WHERE TO GET A CERTIFICATE OF GOOD CONDUCT WITHIN NAIROBI AND OUTSIDE NAIROBI.
This is issued at the Criminal Investigation Department In Kenya (CID offices)
For those living in Nairobi, you can obtain it from the CID headquarters along Kiambu Road in Muthaiga area. For those living outside Nairobi you can obtain it from the Divisional CID offices. Here they will take the official payment receipts, photocopy of National ID or birth certificate, you fingerprints and cover letter then forward to the CID headquarters.
HOW LONG IS THE WAITING PERIOD BEFORE GETTING THE CERTIFICATE
Normally it takes one to two weeks then you can go collect the certificate.
