How Much MCA’s In Nairobi Are Paid

It is financially rewarding to be a Member of the County Assembly (MCA) in Nairobi Kenya. Not only is their salary high but also have very rewarding allowances and other perks. So here is the breakdown of the MCA’s salary and various allowances.

Salary- over sh200,000

Sitting allowance – sh262,088 per month

Mortgage allowance – sh3 million

Mileage allowance – sh39,000 with provision for every extra kilometer travelled

Responsibility allowance – sh32,000

Nairobi County has spent the highest in terms of sitting allowances for MCAs. The figure is around sh299.8 million while what is allocated in the budget is sh160 million. All the counties have spent sh4.9 billion on domestic and foreign travel.
