Rwanda Launches Methane Gas Power Plant For Electricity
Rwanda has inaugurated a power plant that will add 26MW of power into the grid for the methane gas in Lake Kivu. It has been developed by US company Contour Global and is planning to add 75MW by 2019 from the same source. The project cost around $200 million.
Currently, around 25% of the population is connected to electricity with a total installed capacity of 186MW. The government wants to double that to 563MW by 2018.
