Famous local blogger Robert Alai recently went of his Facebook page to post photos of a pile of Jameson bottles then claimed that they are being filled in Kariobangi so as to be sold as the real thing. Normal all Jameson Whiskey products are imported from abroad.
The company in charge of handling Jameson Whiskey in Kenya, Pernod Ricard, has come out to clear the air. They said these bottles are from a container of Jameson products that got accidentally dropped into the ocean while being discharged by a crane at the Mombasa port.
Some bottles were damaged so the company decided to legally destroy and dispose all of the remaining items of the container. Some photos were taken during the process and end up making rounds online.
