Child abuse is basically the misuse of children due to their inability to protect or defend themselves. They then experience harm to their health, welfare and self-respect. Below is a list of songs that talk about child abuse situations:

1. Martina McBride – Concrete Angel

The track is about a little girl who is abused at home but doesn’t let anyone know what is happening to her until it’s too late to save her.

‘Luka’ was written about child abuse told from the perspective of nine-year-old Luka who is a fictional character based on a real child. He has bruises that are suspected to be a result of child abuse. He blames himself for the abuse and tries to keep a low profile at home to prevent it.

This is a vengeful tale of a young girl with an abusive alcoholic father. The song won a Grammy Award for Best Solo Country Performance and Best Country Song at the 2013 Grammys.

The track is about the stories of child abuse within the Catholic Church. The singer, who grew up Catholic, got the inspiration to do the song after news came out of the Vatican that they have been covering this up since the 50s and 60s.

This upbeat tempo song explores dark themes about a survivor of childhood sexual abuse. The song was made in homage to Michael Jackson.

 

7. LL Cool J – Father

The song is an autobiographical account of LL’s experiences with his father and then his mother’s boyfriend and the struggles he faced because of him. He was physically abusive.
