6 Songs About Taking Risks & Chances
The fear of risks is something that may be holding you back in life. You need to challenge yourself and try harder if you want to grow stronger and become better. Not all risk is good. You should only take the calculated risks that can truly improve your life. Below is a list of songs about taking risks:
1. Kanye West – Through The Wire
The song was recorded after Kanye West crashed his car and fractured his jaw back in October 2002 and the title comes from the fact that his mouth was still wired shut when he had to record the song. At first, he thought it was the worst thing that could happen to him but it ended up being the best thing since the song exploded, catapulting him into stardom.
Lyrically, we see how much music meant to Kanye West that he had to take the risk of doing the song before he had completely healed from his accident. His jaw was wired shut and couldn’t eat solid foods after the reconstructive surgery.
2. Kelly Clarkson – Breakaway
This is a single from The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement. It managed to reach #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Initially, it was recorded by Avril Lavigne but was later given to Kelly Clarkson. Avril’s version was officially released in 2022.
The message in the song is mainly about getting out of your comfort zone and taking a risk without knowing where you will end up.
3. Daughtry – Start Of Something Good
The track is about Daughtry taking a chance on telling a girl how he feels and hopes that she doesn’t take it the wrong way or scare her away. He thinks it may lead to the start of a great relationship but it can also ruin everything.
This is the 4th track in the album, Break The Spell.
4. Celine Dion – Taking Chances
This is the lead single from the album of the same name Taking Chances. It was written by Kara DioGuardi and former Eurythmics member Dave Stewart. The song is about two strangers who don’t know much about each other’s worlds and each other’s past taking a chance on each other to be together. Celine asks the other party what he thinks of just jumping into a relationship without any safety net or knowing whether there is solid ground.
5. Selena Gomez – Vulnerable
The song is about Selena Gomez being unsure about getting into a relationship since the guy might decide to take advantage of her once she opens up her heart. She is unsure if she should take a risk with him and show her vulnerable side plus share her secrets.
It is the sixth track in the album Rare released in 2020.
6. Pharell Williams feat Jay Z- Entrepreneur
Pharell sings about the disadvantage a black man has when he is trying to make it. He encourages such people not to listen to those telling them they won’t make it and just risk it all because they never know what is in store.
Jay Z highlights anti-black racism and discrimination on video platforms and streaming services. Hulu had been criticized for not including a lot of great African American shows on its platform. In addition to that, Jay Z encourages black ownership of businesses.
