We all at some point reach a point in life where we need someone to be there for us and support us in handling life problems. Here is a list of songs you can listen to when you really need someone:
1. Justin Bieber – Company
In this song, a lonely Justin wants someone who can end his loneliness but doesn’t have to be his lover. He sings about life outside of a relationship and the freedom it has. He wants this girl to keep him company by having a casual relationship. He isn’t preoccupied with titles or serious commitments.
‘Company’ was part of the album Purpose released in 2015. It was certified 2x multiplatinum by the RIAA.
2. Jack U & Justin Bieber – Where Are You Now
This is an EDM anthem where Justin showcases an updated vocal effect. He expresses his disappointment in the person he trusted to be there for him and now that he needs them, his lover has left him.
The song seems to be in reference to his ex girlfriend Selena Gomez. She wasn’t around when he was going through a rough patch in 2013 – 2014 where he got into different kinds of trouble such as the DUI arrest. Selena went on tv and called him ignorant and childish.
The song won Best Dance Recording at the 58th Annual Grammy Awards.
3. The Chainsmokers – Don’t Let Me Down
The song is about knowing someone is there for you when you need them when times are really hard. Daya described the chorus as desperate and when performing it she felt like it’s the last cry for help. She added that it’s about knowing that someone is there to help you out when times are hard.
Daya also asks her boyfriend to save her and prove that good boys don’t hide away.
4. Major Lazer – Lean On
This is the lead single from Major Lazer’s third studio album Peace Is The Mission. It is generally an Indian-influenced reggae house song about how we all need someone no matter who we are or what we do. Even if you are a drug dealer or a killer we all still need love.
5. Marshmello – Here With Me
The track is the first collaboration between Marshmello and CHVRCHES. It deals with themes of missing someone and not being the same without them around. Your heart is in constant pain because of their absence and you just need them there with you so that everything ends up being okay.
The song debuted at #75 on the Hot 100 and peaked at #31.
6. Jessie Ware – Say You Love Me
In this song, Jessie is talking about needing emotional affirmation aside from the physical. She releases that she is falling in love with the guy but she doesn’t want it to happen if he reciprocates the same feelings. She wants to feel the love from him even if it’s for a short while.
The track is the second single from Jessie’s sophomore album Tough Love and she collaborated with Ed Sheeran to write the track. It ended up being featured in the Fifty Shades of Grey film as a soundtrack.
7. Lady Antebellum – Need You Now
The song depicts the painful memories of lost love and the longing to see the person once again. Lady A is also glad she is in pain because she perceives a lack of emotion to be a worse state.
8. Pink – Walk Me Home
Pink sings about wanting someone who can distract her from all the things she is thinking about.
The song was the lead single from Pink’s 2019 album Hurts 2B Human.
9. Evanescence – Bring Me To Life
This is a desperate cry for help. She has pretended to be happy for a long time that now she doesn’t know what true happiness is. Lead singer Amy Lee and guitarist Ben Moody shared in an interview that the song was inspired by the desire to make the most out life.
Amy Lee later shared that she drew inspiration from a rough moment in her life during which her future husband suddenly asked her if she was happy.
10. Dr Dre feat Eminem & Skyla Grey – I Need A Doctor
This is a cinematic song that details Eminem’s and Dr Dre’s relationship. Eminem raps about Dr Dre being stuck creatively since he hadn’t released an album for eleven years. The term ‘bring him back to life’ is used to mean that he wants his old mentor back to bring back real hip hop in the industry.
Eminem references his own struggles to make it and how Dr Dre helped him out.
11. Demi Lovato – Nightingale
The song was dedicated to Trenton Cole Stount, one of Demi Lovato’s best friends. He committed suicide at age thirteen and now Demi considers him her guardian angel. She had this to say about the song, “It’s about one of my friends, actually, that passed away when we were thirteen. I feel like, sometimes I literally, I know when he’s in the room with me. And, I just have a really strong connection to him. I feel like he’s my nightingale.”
12. Ed Sheeran feat Ella Mai – Put It All On Me
Ella Mai and Ed Sheeran sing about someone they love and how they can always rely on them whenever they need them. Ed sings about how he can’t wait to get home since he is feeling low and having his lady is good for his soul.
