Sportpesa is once again ahead of its competition in trying to go global since today it just sponsored English Premier League Club Hull City in a multi-million Pound shirt deal and has been dubbed as the most lucrative deal in the club’s history. It looks like those Kshs100 people lose daily are really adding up to huge amounts.
The SportPesa logo will appear on Hull City’s home and away kits for three seasons. Hull City will also travel to Kenya and play against a selected Kenyan team.
Ronald Karauri, chief executive officer of SportPesa, said: “This is a big milestone for SportPesa as it marks the scaling of a Kenyan brand into the global market. The SportPesa platform will now be available in the United Kingdom and later in the year present in several African countries. One year from now we will have presence in at least four continents.”
SportPesa is already spending millions sponsoring The Kenyan Premier League, Gor Mahia, AFC Leopards and recently they spent Ksh607 million sponsoring Kenya Rugby Union in a 5 year partnership.
SportPesa is owned by Pevan East Africa and was set up by an investment of just £15.2m. Now the company is making waaaaaay more than that initial investment rivaling Kenya’s biggest firm Safaricom in profits.
